By law under the Health and Safety Act, mobile elevating work platform (MEWP) operators are required to be fully trained. Manlift Hire is a recognised MEWP training centre and courses are run on an on-going basis. Course start times can be adjusted to suit your requirements. We also facilitate customers where on-site training is required.

training roomTheory Module

Health & Safety Legislation is addressed along with the workings of the various machines.

We have a dedicated in-house training room with full audiovisual facilities to effectively deliver the theoretical elements of the course.

In-house we have every type of MEWP at our disposal, which is an advantage for those requiring training for more than one category.

practical trainingPractical Module

Initially the instructor takes the machine through its parameters; then trainees are taken through the following:

  • Pre-start checks

  • Various machine controls and functions

  • Practical tests

Question and answer sessions are encouraged throughout both modules of the course.  On completion trainees will have the confidence to operate individually and will then be expected to complete certain set tasks for assessment.

The duration of the course is determined by three things:

  1. Number of trainees
  2. Number of categories
  3. Trainees previous experience

On average each course runs for approximately 6-7 hours.

certificationCertification

On successful completion of the course each trainee is presented with an A4 certificate and a wallet-sized id card.

Our certification is valid for a period of three years.

On it’s expiry a refresher course is required.

Please Note:

For on-site training a suitable area and the required equipment must be available for both practical and theory sessions to be carried out.

Each trainee must provide 2 passport sizes photographs in order to complete same day certification. Trainees must provide their own PPE equipment.
